Yet another humanoid walking - passive dynamic walking with torso under simple control
Passive Dynamic Walking (PDW) has been receiving increasing attention as a simple walking method with no or less control, therefore no or less energy consumption. To the best of our knowledge, there are no PDW models with a torso although there have been already many studies on PDW. This paper presents the first step towards applying the PDW principle to humanoid robots by adding a torso to a c...
متن کاملPassive dynamic walking of a kneeless biped robot with torso
The focus of this work is a study of the passive dynamic walking of a kneeless biped robot with torso on inclined slopes. We show that under a simple PD control applied between the torso and the stance leg the biped robot converges at a stable gait cycle. we present recent results of trajectory sensitivity analysis to effeciently determine the stability of limit cycles for the biped robot.
متن کاملFrom Passive Dynamic Walking to Passive Turning of Biped walker
Dynamically stable biped robots mimicking human locomotion have received significant attention over the last few decades. Formerly, the existence of stable periodic gaits for straight walking of passive biped walkers was well known and investigated as the notion of passive dynamic walking. This study is aimed to elaborate this notion in the case of three dimensional (3D) walking and extend it f...
متن کاملStabilization and Walking Control for a Simple Passive Walker Using Computed Torque Method (RESEARCH NOTE)
Abstract The simple passive dynamic walker can walk down a shallow downhill slope with no external control or energy input. Nevertheless, the period-one gait stability is only possible over a very narrow range of slopes. Since the passive gaits are extremely sensitive to slope angles, it is important to use a control strategy in order to achieve a wide range of stable walking. The computed to...
متن کاملPassive Dynamic Walking Analysis
There are an estimated 1.7 million Americans living with limb loss; further, spinal cord injuries afflict 250,000 Americans [1]. Many patients lose their jobs and their quality of life plummets. Fortunately there have been significant advancements in the design of prosthetic limbs in the last few decades. A noteworthy achievement is the direct integration of a prosthetic device with the brain, ...
